ONE SMALL STEP...

E-mail Print PDF

moon-landingBy Sean Regan and Michael Hanley

A race was on to put a man on the moon. President Kennedy had challenged the nation. It was the mission of Apollo 11 to land two men on the moon, then return them safely to Earth. It was one of the most historic events. It demonstrated what man can do with effort and ingenuity.
Neil Armstrong landed on the moon on the 20th July 1969. When he disembarked the Lunar he siad one small step for man, one huge leap for mankind. He couldn't walk on the moon but eventually he got the hang of it. The moon was covered in sand and rocks.

The Vikings

Viking ship in the Oslo MuseumThe Vikings were fierce warriors who attacked Ireland around 795 AD. The boys read articles and information about these attacks and carried out individual research during school on their ships, clothes and weapons.resized_cimg1542
They also used clay to create their own Viking ships, weapons and Irish round towers that were purposely built to protect the Irish monks and their valuables.

Norway

E-mail Print PDF

Norwegian FlagThe boys in 4th class studied the European country of Norway. One reason why we picked this country is because it is very different to Ireland in that it is called "the Land of the Midnight Sun". It has sun for 24hrs a day during summer!

The boys carried out their own individual research on the country and creatively made their own projects using Kidspiration computer programme.
